Marshall Loeb Supports the University Now and in the Future with Current and Estate-Plan Gifts
As Marshall Loeb ’84 was finishing high school in Meridian, Mississippi, and contemplating where he should continue his education, he learned about The University of Alabama’s strong business school reputation. He also had a good friend — today, his best friend — who was an incoming freshman and wanting a roommate.
Marshall earned both his bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s of tax accounting at UA and went on to receive his MBA from Harvard University. He made lifelong friends while at UA and also gained a first-rate education. “This was reinforced as I began classes at Harvard and realized I wasn’t an admissions mistake,” he says.
In addition to his regular giving to the University through his donor-advised fund (DAF), Marshall has also included a bequest to UA in his will to ensure his support continues beyond his lifetime. “It was about giving back to a place that has given me so much in so many ways,” he says. The primary portion of his legacy gift is designated for faculty support via the Marshall Loeb Endowed Professorship in Business.
As a student, Marshall focused on accounting and was involved with Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting honor society, and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He remains happily involved with his alma mater as a member of the Culverhouse Board of Visitors and a board member for the 1831 Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the student managed real estate investment fund.
Marshall hopes others will join him in making a planned gift to help the University increase its financial flexibility to meet its mission. “I’ve enjoyed rekindling my relationship with the University after more years than I care to add up,” he concludes. “And as those years have added up, I realize more and more how appreciative I am of my time there. Giving a little bit back to help students today is a very worthwhile cause.”
